Apo Island is the most successful community driven Marine Sanctuary in the Philippines. Founded and instigated by Dr. Angel Alcala of the Silliman University in 1983. It is protected by the National Protected Area Act (NIPA) and under the jurisdiction of the Protected Area Management Board. Surrounded by hundreds of species of fish and marine life, the island is a jewel of the underseaworld. Spectacular diving is to be had right off the beach in front of the resort and there are also numerous exciting dive sites all around the island. Apo Island Beach Resort is nested in a private cove with unique rock formations surrounding a beautiful white crushed coral beach.
